18% GST
Almost every Indian quote is exclusive of GST. On a ₹10,000 bill, that is ₹1,800 more. If your business is GST-registered, ask for a proper tax invoice so you can claim the input credit.
Indian businesses can now buy AI calling from home-grown platforms billed in rupees, global platforms billed in dollars, or fully managed services that run the calls for them. The rates look similar on paper, but GST, telecom rules, Indian phone numbers, language support and connect rates change what you really pay. This report puts all of it in one place, with a budget estimator, a cost comparison with an Indian telecaller and our own rate: Troika charges ₹9 a minute, billed per second, with free setup.

Three kinds of sellers now compete for the same Indian business. Indian voice-AI platforms sell self-serve agents in rupees, with listed rates that mostly sit between ₹3 and ₹6 a minute. Global developer platforms sell in US dollars, often bill the AI model, the voice and the phone line separately, and leave the building to your engineers. Managed AI calling services set up the script, the numbers and the campaign for you and support it after launch.
Each one quotes a "rate per minute", but they are not quoting the same thing. One includes the Indian phone line; another adds it later. One is billed in rupees with a GST invoice; another moves with the dollar. One speaks Hindi well and stumbles in Tamil; another charges extra for every regional language. And none of them can tell you in advance how many of your customers will pick up.
Buyer guides published in 2026 agree on one number: the real cost of AI calling often ends up 2 to 4 times the listed rate once these extras are added. The sections below show where that difference comes from in India, and how to estimate your own monthly bill before you sign.
Both can work in India. The differences decide your final bill and how much work lands on your team.
| Indian providers (billed in ₹) | Global platforms (billed in $) | |
|---|---|---|
| Listed rate | About ₹2 to ₹8 a minute; ₹3 to ₹6 is the most common | About ₹7 to ₹30 a minute once the AI model, voice and phone line are added |
| Currency risk | None: the price is in rupees | Your rupee cost rises when the dollar does |
| GST | Charged on a GST invoice; claimable as input credit if you are registered | Still 18% in India, and often less simple to account for |
| Indian phone numbers | Usually arranged by the provider | Often bring-your-own; Indian numbers may need a separate telecom partner |
| Hindi and regional languages | Built for Indian accents and phone audio | Strong in English; check Hindi and regional quality on real calls |
| Telecom rules (DLT, number series) | Usually guided by the provider | Mostly left to you |
| Support hours | Indian business hours, Hindi and English | Often email or community support in other time zones |

|---|---|---|
| Under ₹1 a minute | The phone line alone, or a recorded-voice IVR or broadcast | Not a conversational AI agent |

| ₹7 to ₹15 a minute | Global developer platforms with every part added | Dollar billing, separate telecom, engineering time |
| ₹15 to ₹30 a minute | Premium voices and larger AI models on global platforms | Usually only needed for special cases |
| Annual contract | Enterprise voice AI for very large volumes | Often starts at lakhs of rupees a year, with long lock-ins |
| Fully managed (Troika): ₹9 a minute | Script, setup, testing, numbers, launch and support, billed per second (15 paise a second) | Setup free; minimum recharge ₹15,000 + GST |

Indian outbound telephony typically costs ₹0.40 to ₹0.80 a minute. Some AI rates include it; others add it on the bill, sometimes with a markup over the carrier rate.
A business calling number usually rents for ₹250 to ₹2,000 a month, depending on the series and features. Ask how many numbers your campaign needs and who pays for them.
Businesses making commercial calls must register on TRAI's DLT platform. Promotional calls are meant to come from the 140 number series and service or transactional calls from the 160 series. Industry guides put one-time registration at about ₹5,900 to ₹7,500. The rules were updated in 2025 and 2026, so confirm the current steps with your provider.
Numbers on the Do Not Disturb register must be filtered out of promotional campaigns. Scrubbing is cheap, about 1 to 5 paise a number, but someone has to do it before every campaign.

The numbers favour AI for first calls, reminders, follow-ups and answering enquiries at any hour: it calls in parallel, never takes leave and costs only for the seconds it talks. Most Indian teams that switch end up with a mix, where AI makes the high-volume calls and transfers interested customers to people.
People still win on long negotiations, complaints, high-value deals and customers who want a familiar voice. The best AI calling service for you is the one that hands those customers to your team at the right moment, with a recording and a summary of what was said.

Put in your own salary and call numbers to see your current cost per dial, then compare it with per-second AI calling.

An AI calling agent has no salaries, seats or attrition. It bills per second of actual talk time, from prepaid credits, and can run many calls in parallel.
